Traditional recipes of Mexico City, incl. pozole verde estilo "Las Seguras," gorditas criollas, chiles capones, panes dulces, etc. Also with a calendar of local festivities, a glossary of local food terms, etc. In 1988, the heads of the banks in the different Mexican states asked their wives to assemble the recipes; this coincided with a surge of pride in Mexican cooking among the well-to-do who had traditionally looked to France. Some of the editors (Guadalupe Perez San Vicente) for example were expert in Mexican culinary history. These books largely record middle class cuisine; another series issued by the banks covered indigenous regional home cooking. Very good. In Spanish.
